School for Advanced Studies (S.A.S)

School for Advanced Studies sites receive the SAS designation for their exemplary Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) implementation. Our SAS program provides high-quality differentiated instruction with an emphasis on depth, complexity, acceleration and novelty.

We offer high-level academic opportunities that meet the unique educational needs of gifted learners, identified in the Intellectual, High Achievement, Specific Academic, Creative and Leadership Ability categories or verified based on critical thinking/achievement.

Our SAS teachers are knowledgeable and experienced educators dedicated to the growth and success of all students. SAS Students are empowered learners who are responsible Digital Citizens. They leverage technology to take an active role in their learning.They have multiple opportunities to explore local educational resources, such as: The Getty Center,The Skirball, The Getty Villa, The California Science Center, The Sepulveda Basin, UCLA, and The Los Angeles Arboretum.

Our core academic classes provide rigorous instruction that equip our students with the 21st century skills necessary to excel in high school, college, and beyond. Additionally, SAS students are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of electives based on their interests. Many of those electives allow students to create, edit, and publish images and videos, such as Yearbook, Media Experience, and our news program: Bulldog Breakfast Crew. We also offer Theater, Band, Drumline, and Leadership. Students can also explore creating their own game in our exciting new Game Design elective.
